Painting Creekside...

Silverton Park was our destination today for spending the day sharing some art time.

It was beautiful weather to be out creekside.

Deanna and Denise and I chose our spots for the afternoon....

Getting supplies to the chosen site was a bit of a chore.

Here's the underpainting.....

And on to the pastels....

Denise worked in pen and watercolor.

Deanna worked in pastel on art spectrum colourfix.

A delightful day shared!!!

Summer Painting Days....

Here are some photos from a couple of recent summer plein air painting days....

This trip was to Mt Angel Abbey again. The second time this summer.

I decided to revisit the same composition that I had done a few weeks ago.

This was a graphite sketch on Wallis paper that I

then went back and liquified with water. I love this process before I get out

the liquid acrylics, then the pastels. It gives me a good opportunity to

get to know my composition and to loosen up!

Here's Deanna with her painting in progress.

She is working on a Art Spectrum Colourfix paper

Before we got started we had a picnic lunch.....

Then on a Saturday afternoon we spent the day at

Deanna's house. She has an amazing view out her backyard!

She worked on capturing it in pastel....

I again chose to revisit a compostion I worked on recently

while painting at her house under the cherry trees.

The cherries are all done now, but the scene is still there!

Once again, I didn't get it totally completed, however it

was a great day and another "start" to complete at home in the studio.

Day in Portland full of Art....

A joy to see.....The First Ever Oregon Plein Air Paint Out hosted by the Portland Art Museum
It was great to see Brenda Boylan working in oils on location!
And Thomas Jefferson Kitts capturing the roses with his beautiful brush strokes!
There were so many talented plein air painters....
It was a very special opportunity to see so many artists at work
on the South Park Blocks in front of the Art Museum.

Then inside the Museum a must see......
 One of the many favorites........
Benjamin Brown
1865-1942
 Poppy Fields Near Pasadena
Oil on canvas

 And the Monet exhibit....
 Claude Monet
1840-1926
Waterlillies
1914-15
Oil on canvas

And I always have to stop and look at the
George Inness
 paintings in the permanent collection!
