See Diffferently. Authenticity & Your Art

I attended a  "breakthrough workshop" with Casey Klahn.
So much was shared in two days of listening, learning and working through challenges.
Casey did demos, lectured, and showed slide shows of many famous works, including some of his as well.
We took our assignments seriously and kept the opportunity for surprise open.
We learned that it was OK to be lost, and that it was a time to respond to the painting.
I challenged myself with a figurative subject
after working with more familiar landscape photos from my reference materials.
Thank You Casey!!!!

Plein Air Painting....

I'm happy that the season for plein air painting has returned!
It was a art day with my art sisters at
Seabright Gardens.

After a picnic lunch we got to work...
I did a quick sketch to loosen up. This is a new sketchbook for my
granddaughter Lily. I thought it would be fun to make an entry
to wish her a Happy Birthday.
We all managed to find an inspiring location that was in the shade.
Here's Leslie at work in the gazebo.
And Denise has found a group of blooming lilies.
 Deanna at work...
And I started with a graphite sketch, then an acrylic underpainting,
before getting my pastels out to work on this scene...
I will complete this one at home in the studio after
some time to view it and decide what it needs to finish it.
The colors are pretty bold, however it seems to fit the feeling of
the warm sunny day!
