Thank you to Keizer Art and Shreiner's Iris Gardens!

I was honored during this month of May
Enid Joy Mount Gallery
with a special award from Schreiner's Iris Gardens
for my painting "The Gift of Hope".

It was extra special to me to receive this award because
this painting was started on location in Schreiner's East garden.

It's the perfect time of year to visit the garden and enjoy their beautiful blooms!

I also would like to thank juror Nancy Erickson Ward
for giving my painting
"Endless Possibilities"
 Honorable Mention Award
at the May Celebration of Flowers Show.

It's nearly June already!

Seeing Adventure
8 x 12" pastel
Here we are about to turn the calendar to a new month already.
May seems to have gone by very quickly,
however there is still plenty of time to see my
 Featured Artist Exhibit
June 27th.

It's a great time of year to get out and take a walk in the park
after you stop at the gallery to see all the current exhibits.

You can learn more about all that's happening at Salem Art Association by going to

If you aren't able to make it to the exhibit, you can visit my website at
and I will also continue to have paintings available
at the gallery after the show.

Color Confidence...

I attended a two day workshop with Marla Baggetta to study color,
and I am hoping to become more confident because of it!
There was so much information shared and great exercises to help put
the lessons into play.

We discussed analyzing and organizing color,
which included the levels of saturation in
prismatic colors,
muted colors,
chromatic colors
achromatic colors.

It was fun, but also challenging,
just to get the colors chosen!

With Marla's help and guidance we gained more confidence.

Making values studies, then color stories with those,
made for great lessons.
Marla had many examples of color stories to show us that she had created.

Then it was time for us to put the lesson to work and create our own.
Here are my studies

and other students working on theirs.

Here's my table partner Ale sharing some of her accomplishments.
After painting together I came home and visited her website at
It was wonderful to make new art friends from near and far while studying
color together.

We also had the pleasure of learning more while watching Marla demo.

I have felt honored to study with Marla several times over the years.
I continue to learn more knowledge and skills each time I take a workshop with her.
She is so supportive and willing to share her tips and techniques.
Visit her website at
to see all the new learning opportunities for artists.

Seeing all these original small works available by Marla was a delight!

I came home being the proud owner of this Marla Baggetta original pastel.

Blooming Gardens...

With the great Spring we have had this year
many gardens are in full bloom.
This means new opportunities to enjoy the outdoors
and get new inspiration for paintings!

After walking the gardens, the fields of
 Crimson Clover
were calling out to me.

The rest of the day was spent looking out over these fields in bloom.
Here was today's outdoor studio...
